 YOUTH & SUSTAINABILITY CONFERENCE

          Teens Creating

    Sustainable Community

A very special event this fall for Northern New Mexican high school students. The conference will introduce teens to social, economic, cultural, and environmental sustainability. Will be held October 7 & 8, 2005 at Monte del Sol Charter School, in Santa Fe.

Friday of the event invites 500 high school students to participate in interactive keynote, workshops, hands-on sessions, and discuss relevant issues with community leaders. Friday provides a day of engaging in the vision of sustainability, a college fair and an opportunity to generally get inspired to work to create a better world. On Saturday Earth Care will join with the Santa Fe Mountain Center's Native American Emergence Program, to offer 100 teens a special opportunity to work with exciting youth leaders from around the world. Participants will spend time getting to know other teens from Northern New Mexico. The group will then have an opportunity to reflect on the issues raised during Friday's session, work in small teams with mentors on cross-cultural issues, and create plans for action via a youth network that will be supported by Earth Care after the conference.
