MAKE THE MOBILE TOOL SHED A REALITY!
Earth Care has received $3,000 from the Foundation for Sustainability and Innovation to fulfill our dream of spreading food production across the community through a mobile toolshed - BUT it's not quite enough funding to be able to launch the program.
This toolshed on wheels will be available to youth, community and
school gardens across Santa Fe, allowing everyone to share gardening
tools, resources, expertise, and even volunteers.
WE STILL NEED MATCHING FUNDS & DONATIONS
In order to make this a reality we are seeking matching funds, cash or in-kind for:
(1) Old Mail, UPS, FED EX, or other parcel delivery vehicle
Sturdy, good quality and long-lasting Garden Tools such as:
Shovels
Picks
Hoses
Rakes
Clippers
Pruners
Gloves
Lumber, car paint, tool racks - to retrofit the inside of the van.
We anticipate the Mobile Toolshed to be available for use by April, 2010.
Thanks to all who have already donated!

Our Programs
Youth Allies is a multi-level civic engagement, leadership, and community organizing program providing opportunities for young people to discover their voices, act on their convictions for a more just and sustainable world, and realize their full potential as individuals, community members, and stewards of the earth. The Youth Allies Leadership Institute is a partnership with Santa Fe Mountain Center and many other community-based organizations in northern New Mexico. To learn more about the Youth Allies Leadership Institute, Youth Allies Organizing Program, and the Youth Allies Network, click here.
Earth Care's youth programming also includes coordination of the City's Youth Advisory
Board to the Sustainable Santa Fe Commission, and Green Collar Jobs
training at YouthWorks.
Earth Care works with teachers to integrate sustainability education in their schools and across school districts through the Teacher Institute for Sustainability Education and Service-Learning. The Institute includes a 5-day summer institute and follow-up throughout the school year and is open to K-12 educators.
Sustainable Santa Fe: A Resource Guide is a free magazine published annually by Earth Care. In October we print 35,000 copies for distribution all over Santa Fe and beyond. Weeks of Service:
Earth Care engages youth, teachers, schools, and the greater community
in service-learning campaigns throughout the year to forward the City's
sustainability goals and meet critical community needs in health, food
security, and the environment.
Sustainabilty Education Task Force: Coordinated by Earth Care, the Task Force advocates for the integration of
sustainability education in K-12 schools to increase student motivation
and engagement and improve educational success. We accomplish this
through public
education campaigns, the creation of incentives,
support, and recognition,
providing information and resources, and linking efforts within Santa Fe and to
national and international initiatives. Members of the Task Force include educators, non-profit leaders, and youth.
Food Project:
Through the Food Project Collaborative, Earth Care and partner
organization are preparing the next generation of food entrepreneurs,
farmers, and food activists.
